Xopus offers a unique set of features: a friendly user interface, an XSLT generated wysiwyg view, XML schema validation and an extensive API combined in a browser based xml editor. This makes Xopus an extremely flexible and multi-purpose tool.
Xopus as a word processor
Xopus offers a user interface similar to that of a word processor. However, documents created using a word processor are hard to re-use for other purposes such as website publishing. Xopus creates XML content that is easy to re-use, even partially.
Unlike a word processor, Xopus assures the quality of your content by continuously validating it. Non-technical users may have trouble fixing invalid documents, therefore Xopus has a unique feature called prevalidation. Prevalidation prevents all actions that will make the document invalid. Xopus also uses the schema to guide the user while editing for example by offering only nodes in the insert menu that can be inserted at the current cursor location.
Xopus as a browser based editor
Xopus offers full separation of XML content and XSLT presentation. That makes content created using Xopus highly reusable as opposed to HTML content created by most browser based editors.

Xopus as an Ajax platform
If you are using an editor on a day-to-day basis, you will be more productive if that tool can be finetuned for your particular application. Xopus allows you to embed your own Ajax components in the wysiwyg view. The extensive API allows you to modify (or prevent modification of) the XML document by your own components. Xopus will make sure the result of your changes is valid. If necessary Xopus will revert your changes to prevent validation errors.
