SDL Trados Studio 2011 SP1 was launched in December 2011. SP1 includes over 50 product enhancements for SDL Trados Studio 2011 customers based on user and Beta tester feedback. 

Key updates in SDL Trados Studio 2011 SP1:
  • Better sharing with new SDL Studio GroupShare
    • SP1 allows Studio 2011 to connect to the new project sharing product SDL Studio GroupShare. This new product promotes easy sharing of translation memories, terminology and translation projects between project managers, translators and other colleagues over the internet at any time.     • It was previously possible to easily share your translation memories and termbases - you can now easily share your project assets too.
  • Improved machine translation options
    • Access translations from improved machine translation sources including, New SDL BeGlobal and Google Translate. 
    • With SDL Trados Studio 2011 SP1 you can now create and connect to your own BeGlobal Community Account which gives you access to free* automated translation services.
    • Google Translate is now a paid-for service, to use this you will need to set up a Google account.
  • Enhanced integration with SDL MultiTerm 2011 SP1
    • With the SP1 release there is enhanced robustness between SDL Trados Studio 2011 and SDL MultiTerm 2011. Please note that it is important that you install the update for both products to benefit from the enhancements.
  • Simplified licensing to make activation even easier
    • Easy online and offline activation along with network license borrowing have been added for improved user flexibility.
    • Licensing SDL Trados Studio on Citrix or Windows Terminal Services is also supported with this release.
  • Easy to access SDL OpenExchange applications
    • The installer for SDL Trados Studio 2011 also includes the most popular SDL OpenExchange applications including:
      SDL Batch Find and Replace
      SDL TTX It!
      SDL T-Window for clipboard
      SDL XLIFF Converter for MS Office

Service Packs (or SP) are common practice within the software industry to ensure that users get the best from their investment.

What is the benefit of installing SDL Trados Studio 2011 SP1?

By installing SP1 you are able to benefit from a number of key updates for SDL Trados Studio 2011; including:

How do I install SDL Trados Studio 2011 SP1?

Are you an existing SDL Trados Studio 2011 customer? Follow the steps below to download SDL Trados Studio 2011 SP1 and SDL MultiTerm 2011 SP1:

  1. Exit SDL Trados Studio 2011 and SDL MultiTerm 2011, as well as close any Microsoft Office applications
  2. Login to your SDL My Account
  3. Go to the "My Downloads" section
  4. Once in the "My Downloads" section, you will see that your SDL Trados Studio 2011 download is clearly marked in red ("SP1 - Now Available")
  5. Expand the new SDL Trados Studio 2011 SP1 product name and you will find the SP1 downloads within:
    - SDL Trados Studio 2011 SP1
    - SDL MultiTerm 2011 SP1
  6. Click "Download" on each and save the executable files and save them to your local hard disk
  7. Once the downloads have been completed, run both executable files one at a time and follow the wizard driven process
    The SDL Trados Studio 2011 SP1 installer will detect the original SDL Trados Studio 2011 software and uninstall it in the background before installing SDL Trados Studio 2011 SP1.
