SDL solution provides management of terminology and linguistic assets
Challenged with delivering an ever-increasing number of highly complex translation and editing projects, the Language Services team of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB) needed to effectively manage terminology. A best practice terminology management solution would enable the team to cope more effectively with increasingly complex or newly-emerging subject areas in which it was working. In response, SDL MultiTerm(R) was deployed as part of a coordinated and integrated SDL Global Information Management solution. The solution provides intelligent management of and centralized access to the broad spectrum of both central banking and corporate terminology.
Featured solutions:Challenges:- No unified source of terminology, lack of documented central banking terminology
- Need to ensure term consistency across teams, publications and projects
- Growing international reporting, briefing and analytical tasks requiring greater centralization of linguistic assets
- Rising complexity of source texts and emergence of new subject areas
- No method to systematically share information (terminology, corporate wording) across departments
Results:- Established centralized repository of multilingual information assets
- Eliminated repetitive and time-consuming research
- Ensured consistent usage of terminology across all publications
- Speeded the delivery of projects by translators and revisors working with approved terminology
- Enabled cross-departmental knowledge sharing by pooling intellectual capital and resources
